so much holding

I've been a little silent, but I definitely loved the way our Rangers played against Anaheim before the All Star Break. We were dominant - 2 PPG, one shortie (thank you Freddie) and an ENG (thank you Betts). My man Betts was the number one star in front of his pops, gotta love it. Plus we were atop our devision again, but only for 24 hours before the bitchass devils won their 5th in a row.

On to Montreal. Ok Henrik got shelled during the game, but he was so smiley and delightful throughout the festivities - that's got to count right? Any TV clip that makes me scream and rewind multiple times is good enough for me, so the All Star game gets a thumbs up from me.

But how would the Rangers fare after the break? One game in - two points pocketed. Again, good enough for me. Perhaps last night's game wasn't the crispest I've seen, but we prevailed, and that's ultimately what matters. There was scoring, terrific PK, solid goaltending. Valiquette proved yet again to be a spectacular backup. Love this guy. The best thing about seeing the Hurricanes at the Garden is that I don't have to see their faces, but I have to say these bear hugs weren't as evident either. From the photos available you'd think there was no skating only hugging. A different kind of game, but I could get to like it.

Anyway, On to Pittsburgh. Let's bury those Penquins.

win some, lose some

Well, this weekend didn't go exactly as planned. We prevailed in the game that should have been lost and dropped the game that we should have won. Forget Sunday, we've lost every afternoon game we've played . Sucks for us. Friday night was a different story. Our Blueshirts overcame all types of adversity - a good team and unbelievably weak calls - to take a tight game 3-2 in OT. I loved out effort, our spine.

One more game before the All Star break. Let's bury the Ducks.

hold the castle

Two more points and they weren't as easy to come by as it would seem on paper. Isles had their 3rd string goalie in net, but they made up for their defensive liabilities by putting on the offensive pressure. Luckily our King was up to the task. He was brilliant. Plus Drury and Dawes put two in the net within 2 minutes of each other. Nailed it down. Love it. My only worry is that this renewal of a defensive system may not hold up against better teams, but I have faith in my team and most especially my King.

chew on this Ottawa!

We may be beating up on weaker teams, but I love two points almost any way they come. In tonight's case they were earned in style which almost mitigates for the horrific news that Shanahan has signed with the Devils. I can appreciate the cyclical ideal of finishing with the team that drafted you, but I don't have to like it. Apart from that, everything went beautifully in Rangerland today. Defense was spectacular, Henrik got another shutout and the Senators arena played Sloan over the PA during game time. Plus the Korpedo gets to eat cake because he scored a goal. I think we have to thank Jarkko Ruutu for chewing his way to a two game suspension. He's really the heart of the Senators.

Hopefully we can keep up this streak of beating lower teams by demolishing the Isles tuesday.

Unloading on Pittsburgh

Finally a complete game from the Blueshirts. Thank you hockey gods. There's few teams I'd rather shutout than Pittsburgh, so tonight was a special treat. I feel like we've been playing a horrendous brand of hockey lately even though we've won the last two games I've attended. This was by far the most satisfying win I've seen yet this season. Henrik was brilliant. Colton Orr was a force. The PK was excellent. Dawes and Prucha were meant to play on the same line. Everything just clicked. Oh and Crosby was sent to the sin bin twice to loud cheers of "Crosby Sucks!". Aw, the garden faithful always deliver.

Prepare your shouts of "Markov sucks" because I want a repeat on Wednesday against the Habs.

another game, another loss

Not only do we Ranger fans have to suffer the indignity of yet another shorthanded goal, but to lose to a team that produced the lousiest fight I have ever witnessed is just plain humiliating.

If Pittsburgh scores a shortie tomorrow, I'm not responsible for my reaction. I'm playing bongos on anyone within beating distance.

only winning in 2009!

I know it was a sloppy win Monday night at MSG, but after a month of suck at the Garden I was happy for the two points. Plus I got to sing the goal song 5 times and there were 2 fights! This game had a bit of everything, and I tried to enjoy it all. Prucha was an absolute delight and I hope secured a spot in the lineup for more than just a couple of games at a time. Get him and Zherdev going at the same time on the same line and we would have ourselves a scoring line. Can you make wishes on New Year's day? Well I hope to see me sweet silver friend, the Stanley Cup, again this spring. Happy New Year everybody. Enjoy the Winter Classic. I think it's gonna be way more classic than last year's snowshow!
